PENOBSCOT SNOWMOBILE CLUB
HERMON
December 17, 2003
Hello P.S.C. & M.S.A. Members!
Mother Nature works in weird ways. Two record-breaking snowstorms followed by two record-breaking rain & wind storms? Not to panic, it’s usually about now before we get any snow that will be here for the duration anyway. As they say in the Maine ‘Field of Dreams’: “Get your sled ready and it will snow” (or something equivalent).
The PSC just finished their Christmas party. Santa out did himself! In fact, he knew more about the Club members than you could imagine. It’s almost like he comes to Club meetings! The children were very happy and the clubhouse was full. Many thanks to the Doak family & friends for prepping the clubhouse for the festive season. It looked splendid and cheerful.
Our website is now 99% complete and running full tilt! The trail map is now ready and downloadable for anyone wishing for the latest and greatest. Hats off to the webmaster as he has spent more time on the site than he has reading his Arctic Cat Service Manual (though only slightly more). It flat out ROCKS!

Tom reports the Imp is ready and George is tightening the loose ends (bolts) on the Alpine – I’ll have the “love machine” ready for the first week of January. Larry reports the S-10 Blazer is 85-90% ready and we’ll work out the bugs from that, very soon. As far as trails go, please be sure to follow the ‘new section on Trail 7’ as that has been changed. While the big storms caught us off guard slightly, all the signs should be up now. John Plourde reports he will have a hole in the woods soon needed down the “pit road trail” to the store. We also have one small cut heading off Trail 7 for a connector with Levant. This will be the trail for the “5-Clubber”. So, wider IS better!
Speaking of 5-Club, the town of Hermon, Hampden, Carmel, Levant and Glenburn sponsor the 5-Club Poker Run on January 17th, 2004 at 8:00am. After purchasing a score card at any clubhouse, riders (by car, sled, or camel) go to the other respective clubs and draw a card to achieve the best hand. While the proceeds of the run go to Pine Tree Camp for charity, the winners of each club have been known to pull home an equivalent to an extra paycheck. It’s cool, fun, entertaining and cozy. Anyone interested is welcome and don’t hesitate to call, mail, write, show-up, parachute-in or hike to be there.
As we get this season rolling, please be safe. The ice is not ready yet and it never hurts to throw up an extra sign somewhere. Wouldn’t you feel good if you put the sign that prevented some kind of future problem?! The clubhouse is 848-2490. Many thanks.
