PENOBSCOT SNOWMOBILE CLUB
HERMON
January 2005
Happy New Year fellow snowmobilers! I trust everyone had an awesome holiday and are now ready to get down to some serious sledding. I spoke to a gentleman from “the county” yesterday and he has already put on 200 miles and it is only the 13th of December. We have had some little storms, but thus far they have just been a tease. Do me a favor and keep your fingers crossed and hopefully we will get our share soon!
In speaking with Brent, he reports that finally the reroute on trail #7 has been completed. On another note, all of the other trails have been signed and staked, however some maintenance has yet to be completed on the groomers. Additionally, Fred still has a little work left on the drag for the S10 and then the trail crews will finally be able to take a breath. Don’t get me wrong, there is still a lot going on at the PSC, for instance on the 15th of January the Five Club poker run will take place, with the proceeds going to the Pine Tree Camp. For any of you who weren’t aware, this has turned into an annual event. The clubs involved are Hampden, Carmel, Levant, Glenburn and Hermon. It is a great time and you can do it by sled or vehicle. The Pine Tree ride in happens on February 5th and then we have our own Poker run on February 13th. In addition to planning the club trip, that is if Robin remembers to bring the information to the meeting, we are still somewhat busy! If by chance you get the opportunity to stop by the club you will see what a great job that Mark, Debbie, Steve, Rick and Robin have accomplished, along with many others who have volunteered their time to help. For instance, the old rug is gone and has been replaced with a freshly painted floor to go along with the new windows and painted walls.
So as we get ready to hit trails lets remember to ride right, slow down and never drink and drive. The ice is still too thin, but with the temps dropping steadily it shouldn’t be long now. When you do get out, give a thumb up to the groomers and if you stop by a club, drop a few bucks into the trail fund bucket. As all of you know, every little bit helps. If you haven’t joined a local club yet give it a try. For those prospective new members, we meet the first and third Wednesday of each month. You’ll be surprised how much fun you can have.
