PENOBSCOT SNOWMOBILE CLUB
HERMON
October 2005
Hello there!
We have officially started the new season of snowmobiling...no, the snow isn't coming just yet, but we have a lot of fun stuff planned and some fun projects to do. I just got off the phone with our new Trailmaster, Chris and he was out walking Trail 3 towards Bangor…in the rain, “we got some clean-up to do, but we are looking good” was the report. Our biggest priority this fall is the new bridge over Wheeler Stream on ITS 82. By the time you are reading this, we should have all the major steel work done and out of the water only to finish up the planking and other misc items. Thank you to all that have helped so far with donations of equipment, supplies and most importantly their time! Our bridge project manager, John called me to tell the team, “Keep up the great work!”
The official start of Trail Work welcomes everyone to get out and check in with our awesome landowners, meet the new landowners and start clearing the way to a safe new season. We have some improvements planned for some our trails to be able to get the Blazer with tracks everywhere…it does a real fine job. We meet on Sunday mornings at 8am at the Clubhouse in October and November. It really is a lot of fun, come and lend a hand…this is nothing better than riding on a section of trail knowing that you helped clear it so that you and all our friends and neighbors can enjoy it.
This year will have been our first to have a slot at the MSA Snowmobile Show in Augusta to sell MSA Raffle Tickets. I am sure that the show this year will be as much fun as it was last year, if not better. It’s the time to check in on the new sleds and accessories, as well as to wear your ‘colors’ proudly…as well as, to hang out with all you other fanatics of this sport.
We have our Membership Drive Supper on the 15th and the planning and ramping up has already started…check the website, www.sledhermon.net daily to see the membership numbers rising…going for a record? You bet we are!! Also, we have our annual Hunter’s Breakfast coming up at the end of the month, the coffee will be on!
Next month is our awesome Landowners’ Appreciation Dinner, please make sure you can attend to thank the people that allow us the right to enjoy the Maine winters so much. With deep fried Turkey and ALL the fixins, you cannot go wrong.
Until then…be safe, schedule your sleds’ servicing, help out with trail work, and we’ll see you down at the Clubhouse!
