PENOBSCOT SNOWMOBILE CLUB

HERMON

September 2005

Hello there!

The Penobscot Snowmobile Club of Hermon is getting ready for another exciting this season and would like to say thank you all to our members from last year and welcome to all the snowmobilers that are joining our great sport this year.

This year we have a new former-President returning to lead our members, welcome back Andy Witham.  Our VP, Fred Richards and Treasurer, Sandra Dorr remain the same, but we add myself to the Secretary role.  Hopefully, I can keep up the great work put out from Clark Cole, thanks Clark.  Also a thank you goes to John Monk, our former President stepping down after 3 years of service to the PSC.  We also have had some changed in Directors and we will be looking forward to a lot from this new personnel…

We still have a little while before the snow flies, but there is a lot going already.  We just had our 5th Annual Lobster Bake and what a turnout!  The rain held out just long enough to only get the clean-up crew wet, but that’s okay…it was well worth it.  Thank you very much to Chuck and Julie and to all the helpers from the PSC, what a team we make.  We have a major bridge project coming up for the Wheeler Stream crossing on ITS 82, but we have the steel and the people to get things done.  It takes a lot of planning, prep work, and dedication to do something like this, but we have one perfect, blended group of people to get it done…stay tuned next month for more updates on progress.

I spoke to our new TrailMaster, Chris Rose and he said we have a lot of brushing and general maintenance, but so far…no big re-routes.  That will certainly help as our focus will be the bridge on Wheeler Stream.  Speaking of bridges, how many of you have seen and driven through our covered bridge on Trail 7?  What a great addition to our Trail system of nearly 40 miles.  Come check it out!

To get all the latest info and more information about our club, please check our ever-changing and growing website… www.sledhermon.net.  There is a lot of information on the site, so be sure to bookmark it.  You can also call our clubhouse at 848-2490 or contact us by mail at Penobscot Snowmobile Club, c/o Andy Witham, RR2 Box 7940, Carmel, ME 04419 or email at: info@sledhermon.net.  Our meetings are held at the Clubhouse on the Bog Road every first and third Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.  We made a great run on memberships last year and we’d like to beat that record this year…so join up and jump in!

A lot is going on this year in our sport, stay informed, get involved and support your local club…we gain everything in numbers and with our dedication to something we all have in common and absolutely love to do…SNOWMOBILING in MAINE!
